Kerman Province, Iran — A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck southeastern Iran early Sunday morning, according to the Iranian Seismological Center, shaking areas near the city of Bardsir in Kerman Province.
The earthquake occurred at 3:46 a.m. local time and had a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). The epicenter was located approximately 22 kilometers from Negar and 36 kilometers from Baghin, the agency said.
Provincial emergency officials reported that the earthquake caused no casualties or significant property damage. Emergency response teams were deployed to assess the affected areas, with initial inspections indicating no major impact on infrastructure or public safety.
Iran is one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries, as it lies on several major tectonic fault lines. Moderate to strong earthquakes occur frequently across different regions of the country.
Authorities said they will continue monitoring the situation and urged residents to remain alert in case of possible aftershocks.
