The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has released updated casualty figures from the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, revealing that at least 624 American service members have been wounded since President Donald Trump authorized military operations against Iran in February 2026.
According to the Pentagon's latest update, published on 25 July, the casualties are divided between two military operations. A total of 417 personnel were injured during Operation Epic Fury, while 207 others were wounded in missions categorized under Overseas Operations.
Revised Death Toll
The Pentagon has also revised its official fatality records following a review of military casualty reports.
Initially, Operation Epic Fury was listed as having resulted in 18 deaths and 482 wounded personnel. However, after a review, four service members were removed from that operation's fatality count.
As a result, the official death toll for Operation Epic Fury now stands at 14 military personnel.
The four soldiers whose names were removed have instead been reclassified under the Overseas Operations category, which records casualties from operations beginning 7 July 2026. They are currently the only fatalities listed in that category.
Conflict Continues Despite Diplomatic Efforts
The United States and Iran reached a ceasefire agreement in April and later signed a memorandum of understanding in June aimed at reducing hostilities. Despite these diplomatic developments, military exchanges between the two countries have continued intermittently.
The latest Pentagon figures illustrate the continuing human cost of the conflict, even as diplomatic efforts seek to prevent a wider regional war.
