Tensions continue to rise in the Middle East as the conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States intensifies, with new drone attacks reported in Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.
Drone attack targets U.S. diplomatic facility in Baghdad
A drone strike targeted a U.S. diplomatic compound in Baghdad late Tuesday, according to security sources. The facility is located near Baghdad International Airport.
The attack did not cause any casualties, but officials believe it was likely carried out by militia groups in Iraq that are supported by Iran.
Reports indicate that multiple drones were involved in the incident. According to information cited by The Washington Post, at least six drones were intercepted or brought down near the diplomatic site.
The suspected attackers are believed to be linked to armed groups operating under the umbrella of Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of militias that support Iran and have increased their attacks since the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran began.
Drones intercepted near Erbil
In northern Iraq, security forces also intercepted at least three drones near the city of Erbil in the Kurdistan region.
A U.S. military base is located near Erbil International Airport, making the area a frequent target for attacks by Iranian-aligned groups seeking retaliation against American forces.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the intercepted drones caused any damage.
Drone incident near Dubai airport
Meanwhile, in the Dubai, four people were injured after two drones reportedly crashed near Dubai International Airport.
According to the Dubai government’s media office, the injured included a citizen of India who suffered moderate injuries. Three others — two citizens of Ghana and one from Bangladesh — were reported to have minor injuries.
Despite the incident, authorities said that flight operations at Dubai International Airport continued normally.
Growing regional tension
The incidents highlight the widening impact of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Iran-aligned militias have increased drone and missile attacks across the region following military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel.
Military analysts warn that attacks on strategic locations such as airports, diplomatic compounds, and military bases could further escalate tensions and risk drawing additional countries into the conflict.
As the situation develops, governments across the region remain on high alert while closely monitoring new security threats.
