BERLIN — German police have released the identity and description of the main suspect in connection with the violent attack in Berlin's Tiergarten district, as authorities continue an extensive search for the individual believed to be responsible.
In an official statement, Berlin Police identified the suspect as Abdul B., a 21-year-old man described as having a slim build and dark hair. Investigators said he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and white trousers at the time of the incident.
Police allege that the suspect injured several people during the attack and remains at large. Authorities have launched a large-scale operation to locate him and are urging the public not to approach the suspect if seen, but to contact emergency services immediately.
Investigators also believe that one or more individuals fled the vehicle involved shortly after the incident. In addition, police confirmed receiving reports that several victims sustained injuries caused by a bladed weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing as forensic teams and detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack, including whether others were involved.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding a possible motive or the total number of people injured. They said additional information will be made public as the investigation progresses.
