Withheld Epstein Files Referencing Trump Released by Justice Department

Newly released documents from the U.S. Department of Justice have revealed previously withheld files connected to the investigation of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. The documents include summaries of interviews with a woman who made allegations against former U.S. President Donald Trump, although the claims remain unverified and unsupported by evidence.

The files were made public after reports that several documents were missing from the Justice Department’s database, prompting criticism from political opponents who questioned whether the materials had been deliberately withheld. Officials from the Justice Department later explained that the documents had been mistakenly excluded because they were incorrectly classified during the review process.

According to the newly released memos, investigators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a series of interviews in 2019 with a woman who alleged that she had been introduced to Trump by Epstein during the 1980s. In the interviews, the woman claimed that both men sexually assaulted her when she was between the ages of 13 and 15.

However, the documents state that investigators were unable to verify the claims, and the woman did not have further contact with the FBI after the interviews were completed. It also remains unclear whether Trump and Epstein knew each other during the time period when the alleged incidents were said to have occurred.

In response to the release of the documents, the White House dismissed the allegations as completely unfounded. A spokesperson stated that the claims were not supported by credible evidence and emphasized that Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein.

“These accusations are entirely baseless,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in a statement. She added that previous investigations had not produced evidence that would justify criminal charges against Trump.

The files also show that Trump’s name appears multiple times throughout the broader collection of documents connected to the Epstein investigation. Many of these references appear in emails and communications involving Epstein and other individuals.

Despite those mentions, no survivors who have publicly accused Epstein of abuse have formally accused Trump of committing a crime. The released documents include lists of tips submitted to the FBI’s national threat reporting system, many of which contain allegations against various public figures. Investigators note that many of these tips are unverified and lack supporting evidence.

The renewed attention to the Epstein documents comes amid ongoing political scrutiny in Washington. Members of the U.S. House Oversight Committee recently voted to subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi in order to question the Justice Department about how it handled the release of the files.

The vote reportedly included both Republican and Democratic lawmakers, highlighting bipartisan interest in gaining clarity about the government’s management of the Epstein investigation records.

Epstein, a wealthy financier with connections to powerful figures in politics and business, was arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges. He died later that year in a jail cell in Metropolitan Correctional Center while awaiting trial.

His longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell was later convicted of sex trafficking and sentenced to prison in 2022 for helping recruit and abuse underage girls.

In recent months, U.S. authorities have released millions of pages of documents connected to the Epstein investigation after legislation passed by Congress required the Justice Department to make the materials public.

The newly released memos add to the growing archive of records related to Epstein and his network of associates. However, investigators and officials stress that many of the claims contained in the files remain unverified and should not be interpreted as proven facts.

As more documents continue to emerge, the Epstein case remains one of the most closely watched investigations involving powerful figures in the United States.
