Former US President Donald Trump has said that he does not intend to offend or insult anyone, while at the same time expressing deep concern about what he described as Europe’s decline.
“I don’t want to insult anybody,” Trump said, but added that friends of his who have recently returned from parts of Europe told him they no longer recognize the continent as it once was.
Trump pointed to what he called “large-scale, uncontrolled migration”, alongside growing budget pressures and widening trade losses, as key factors behind Europe’s current challenges.
“Parts of our world are being destroyed right in front of our eyes,” Trump said, accusing political leaders of failing to take meaningful action. He did not, however, provide specific details about which countries or policies he was referring to.
Addressing criticism of his own policies, Trump said experts had warned that his plans would lead to economic decline and soaring inflation. “They claimed my policies would cause a recession and massive inflation,” he said, “but we have proven them wrong.”
The remarks reflect Trump’s long-standing criticism of European governance and his rejection of expert economic forecasts that challenge his political agenda. His comments are likely to fuel further debate on migration, economic policy, and the transatlantic relationship between the United States and Europe.
